Protesters stone Congress office in Chennai
March 24th, 2011 - 11:48 pm ICT by IANSChennai, March 24 (IANS) Tension prevailed at the Congress party’s headquarters here Thursday after some protesters threw stones allegedly over the choice of candidates for next month’s Tamil Nadu assembly polls.
The protesters also raised slogans against the state Congress chief K.V. Thangkabalu for fielding his wife Jayanthi Thangkabalu, while overlooking many other aspirants.
They also pelted stones breaking several glass window panes.
The Congress is contesting in 63 seats as part of a DMK-led alliance. Elections for the 234 member Tamil Nadu assembly is slated for April 13 and the results will be out May 13.
