On Board Air India One, April 20 (IANS) It was a rare occasion on which Indian President Pratibha Patil’s husband hogged the limelight: Devisingh Shekhawat turned 74 Saturday and the occasion was marked with a Mexican flavour aboard this special aircraft that carried the president on her 12-day tour of Latin America. A cake-cutting ceremony was organized and the goodies were later distributed among the Indian delegation on board the aircraft.

Ahead of this, Mexican Ambassador to India Rogelio Granguillhome, who was accompanying the president on her overnight visit to the historic city of Guadalajara, sang a birthday song for Devi Singh.

“Wake up/my dear Devisingh/wake up/look it is already dawn/the birds are already singing and the moon has set…” Granguillhome intoned as he sang the Mexican birthday song “Las Mananitas”.

Non-Conventional Energy Minister Vilas Muttemwar provided the Indian touch by singing “Bar bar din yeh aaye…” the Asha Bhonsle number from the 1959 hit movie “Sujata”.

Everyone had a jolly good time..
