President Obama to deliver statement on Nobel win

Barack Obama WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) – President Obama will deliver a statement on Friday morning in what will be his first response to winning the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, the White House said.

President Obama will deliver his remarks, which are said to be brief, at 10.30 a.m. EDT. He will deliver the statement from the Rose Garden of the White House.

Earlier on Friday, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 would be awarded to President Barack Obama for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” The Committee also said it attached “special importance” to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
