Aug 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The President of the United States, Barack Obama, spent his birthday at home, all alone, as his wife and kids were out of town today.(Wednesday). He is expected, however, to celebrate tonight in Chicago, his home town, at birthday dinner with friends.

The First Lady, Michelle and their daughter, Sasha, are on a trip to Spain, and the other daughter, Malia, is at summer camp. Obama is expected to spend the night in his own Hyde Park home, tonight after his birthday dinner.

Obama has spoken of his birthday several times lately, mentioning his greying hair, and slower metabolism as he is another year older. The White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stated that although the job as president is very demanding mentally and physically, that Obama loves it.

The birthday of the president is being used as a major campaign fundraising tool, with Democratic candidates and party organizations using mail, email, parties, and other birthday themed approaches to collect money. Hundreds of birthday parties are planned in the president’s honor all over the country, and volunteers are being asked to make cakes and then send pictures in to OFA website. Organizing For America (OFA) is the grassroots arm of the Democratic party.

A party will beheld in Chicago and hosted by real estate mogul, Neil Bluhm tomorrow at a price of $30,400 per ticket. President Obama is expected to attend this party.

Meanwhile, the Republicans have created the website, which features several cards with critical messages for the president, such as a card with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s picture which reads, “Sorry no gift this year. I’m going to need every dime to defend our failed economic policies.”
