President Obama calls with Judge Sotomayor before confirmation hearings

- WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — President Obama had a brief phone conversation with Judge Sotomayor from the Oval Office in the White House on Sunday morning.
Obama spoke with Sotomayor to wish her good luck as she is preparing for confirmation hearings, which are set to start on Monday. “He complimented the Judge for making courtesy calls to 89 senators in which she discussed her adherence to the rule of law throughout her 17 years on the federal bench,” a statement from the White House read.
The President expressed his confidence that Sotomayor would be confirmed to serve as a Justice on the Supreme Court “for many years to come.”
The White House also released a photo of Obama while on the phone with Sotomayor, it can be viewed below.
