The Taylor Swift-Kanye West fiasco that was the focal point of the MTV 2009 VMA night has had a widespread reach if the ensuing consequences are an example. It seems to have even reached the ears of President Obama.

During an off the record instance while he was involved in an interview session with CNBC on Monday, President Barack Obama is reported to have called West a “jackass.” This was in regard to West’s jumping up on the stage when Swift had won her award in the category for Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me” and announcing that the R&B diva Beyonce deserved it more, after snatching the microphone away from Swift. The news has allegedly been reported by an ABC News anchor via Twitter on Monday evening. The Twitter post was later on deleted. The ABC News correspondent Terry Moran has almost a million followers on his Twitter account and most had come across the bit of information.

The Tweet post updated by the “Nightline” co-host Moran had read something like this, “Pres. Obama just called Kanye west a ‘jackass’ for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT’S presidential.”

An ABC spokesperson said, “In the process of reporting on remarks by President Obama that were made during a CNBC interview, ABC News employees prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview. This was done before our editorial process had been completed. That was wrong. We apologize to the White House and CNBC and are taking steps to ensure that it will not happen again.”
