President Barack Obama Signs Unemployment Benefits Bill

oabamWashington, July 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) United States President Barack Obama signed the bill that would restore the benefits to the people who have been out of work for a period of six months or more. The bill was signed into law by the United States President just few hours after the it was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on a vote of 272-152 which extended the emergency employment benefits till the end of November this year.

After the unemployment benefits bill was signed by President Barack Obama, he issued a statement which said that the Americans who were going through a difficult phase trying to find a job as well as supporting their families are now going to have the much-needed assistance to get back on their feet during these times of economic crisis. At the same time, the United States President also urged the Congress to approve ventures that would result in job creation and would also give an impetus to the sluggish economy.

The bill that was passed on Thursday restores the benefits for the 2.5 million Americans who still remain unemployed and whose payments were dissolved after the program expired at the end of March. As many as 87,000 residents of Michigan lost their benefits in June this year and another 85,000 were all set to lose them at the end of this month without the congressional approval. As per the unemployment benefits, 99 weeks of income support is provided to the individuals who have lost their jobs during the global economic meltdown that gripped the economy last year.
