Washington, June 16, (THAINDIAN NEWS) US President Barack Obama lashed out at the British Petroleum in his speech given at the Oval office in White House last night and he tried to assure the residents that the company would not get away with the damage inflicted on the residents and nature.
He tried to make the impression that the oil spill has not gone out of control yet there was an indication in his speech that the damage has not stopped yet. He severely criticized the British oil giant saying that it has faltered on taking prompt action in controlling the gargantuan oil spill. The Louisiana coastline is being threatened by the ongoing oil leak and BP has missed a number of deadlines to stop the damage.
Even after 8 weeks have passed after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig the oil continues to flow and millions of gallons of oil are mixing with sea water at the Gulf of Mexico each day.
The residents are irate as they see the government cannot take strict actions to stop the disaster which can affect the environment and economy of the country severely. President Barack Obama assured the nation that appropriate measures are being taken to bring the disaster under control but he also said that the damage may have far reaching consequences.
He said that he will make sure BP pays for the damage. It seems that the US government is relying on BP to stop it as it lacks required technology to control it.
Today the US president is going to have a detailed talk with the BP executives on the issue.
