President Barack Obama Hosts Gala State Dinner For Chinese President Hu Jintao

obamaWashington, Jan 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The state dinner that United States President Barack Obama threw for his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao turned out to be a star-studded affair on Wednesday night as it was attended not only by the top American political leaders but also A-listers from the world of glitz and glamor. The event which can best be described as a quintessentially American affair, witnessed the attendance of some of the biggest names of Hollywood as well as prominent business magnates from all over the country.

While President Barack Obama sported a black tuxedo, First Lady Michelle Obama was at her elegant best adorning a red shoulder-baring gown as the couple welcomed their guest of honor at the North Portico of the White House. Among the 225 guests who were invited to attend the state, the celebrity star power was represented by musical artist Barbra Streisand, her husband actor James Brolin, action star Jackie Chan, among others. The business leaders who graced Wednesday night’s state dinner included JP Morgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon as well as Steven Ballmer from Microsoft, to name a few. Vogue magazine editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, Henry Kissinger, Rupert Murdoch’s wife Wendi Deng, Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan, were some of the prominent personalities invited for the gala event.

During his United States visit, Chinese President is known to have reiterated that the relationship between the two nations has taken a positive shape since President Barack Obama assumed responsibilities of the office. Prior to the state dinner, earlier during the day, the two leaders are known to have discussed a variety of matter which included expanding job opportunities, improving exports as well as analyzing common grounds on North Korea, Iran.
