Prabha Rau to act as Rajasthan governor

New Delhi, Dec 2 (IANS) President Pratibha Patil Wednesday appointed Prabha Rau, governor of Himachal Pradesh, the acting governor of Rajasthan after the death of the incumbent S.K. Singh.
The president has appointed Rau to discharge the functions of the governor of Rajasthan, in addition to her own duties, until regular arrangements are made, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
S.K. Singh, the governor of Rajasthan and a former foreign secretary, died Monday.
In her tribute, Patil described Singh as a “distinguished diplomat”.
“The country has lost an eminent diplomat, able administrator and respected public figure,” said Vice President Hamid Ansari.
