Politician Imran Farooq was ‘watched’ before being stabbed
March 16th, 2011 - 10:13 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Mar 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Officers investigating the death of Pakistani politician, Dr Imran Farooq, says that the 50-year-old might have been followed and watched prior to his death.
Forooq was found stabbed to death near his home on the 16th of September. Officials obtained the CCTV footage and after analyzing it, they believe that the seasoned politician was followed by at least four Asian men on the day that he was killed. Farooq who was a member of the MQM had earlier in 1999 sought political asylum in Great Britain.
The Metropolitan Police says the four Asian men seen in the CCTV footage were either in a car or on scooter. The investigators say after Farooq was killed, the scooter and the car both moved in the same direction.
Police have identified the murder weapons as two kitchen knives. One of the knives measure about 5 inches with the brand Ausbein Messer written on it. The other knife has the brand of Schinken Messer and it is five-and-a-half inch blade. The murder weapons were among the things collected at the scene of the murder.
The police do not currently have anyone in custody in connection with the murder after the police bailed a man that they arrested in November in connection with the murder.
