PM to inaugurate conference on Dalits

New Delhi, June 16 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will Friday inaugurate here a conference of ministers of welfare and social justice from states to discuss issues related to development of the Scheduled Castes and other backward classes.
According to an official statement, the two-day conference will also deliberate on self-employment schemes for the rehabilitation of manual scavengers and the implementation of revised post-Class 10 scholarship scheme.
It will also monitor progress on simplification of procedure for issuing disability certificates and schemes related to welfare of persons with physical challenge.
Schemes for welfare of senior citizens will also be taken up at the conference, the statement said.
