PM should reply to Supreme Court’s remarks, says Advani

New Delhi, Nov 17 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should reply to the Supreme Court’s observation on his “silence” on a plea seeking action against A. Raja, who quit as communications and IT minister earlier this week, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani said Wednesday.
Stepping up the attack on the government on the 2G spectrum controversy, Advani said: “The prime minister must respond to the Supreme Court remarks.”
Advani also reiterated the party’s demand for setting up a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to investigate the 2G spectrum licensing issue.
His colleague M. Venkaiah Naidu said the government should accept the demand for a JPC and allow the parliament to function.
The Supreme Court Tuesday took exception to the prime minister’s 15-month “silence” on former MP Subramanian Swamy’s plea seeking sanction to initiate proceedings against Raja over the 2G spectrum allocation.
