PM meets president, discusses budget session

New Delhi, March 3 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday met President Pratibha Patil and discussed the ongoing budget session of parliament and other issues, including the situation in the Arab world, a communique from Rashtrapati Bhavan said here.
The meeting lasted 40 minutes.
“The two leaders discussed about the ongoing budget session of the parliament, issues pertaining to the JPC, measures to check price rise, food security, internal security and also the current situation in the Arab world,” the communique said.
“They also discussed various other issues of national and international importance,” it added.
Giving in to opposition pressure, which stalled the winter session, the government announced the setting up of a 30-member Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe alleged irregularities in the allotment of 2G spectrum.
