New Delhi, Aug 18 (IBNS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has reportedly asked Assam Governor Syed Sibtey Razi to submit his resignation after Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raid reports confirmed alleged corruption against him.

“Singh has asked Razi to quit from his chair on health grounds and save UPA government from embarrassment,” sources told Times Now on Tuesday.

“Razi has asked for time…till October, when his five-year-term ends. The Assam governor also requested time to explain his position to Congress president Sonia Gandhi,” sources added.

CBI raids affirmed reports of alleged corruption in the Jharkhand Raj Bhavan when Razi was Jharkhand governor. He has been accused of allowing his former associates- Rajesh Thakur and IAS officer Avinash Kumar, for committing financial fraud against funds allotted for 34th National Games to be held in Jharkhand.
