Following the public confession of Senator John Ensign about his secret affair on Tuesday, a lot of dirty linen is being washed in the public view. The 51-year-old Nevada Senator and his office issued a very brief and scripted public confession in which the senator apologized for his irresponsible behavior.

However, the statement has not exactly named the mystery woman with whom he had the alleged affair. The cloud over the whole ‘hush-hush’ affair got cleared on Wednesday when the attorney of Cynthia (Cindy) Hampton came out with the statement that the Senator’s act to go public has hurt the Hampton family.

The attorney in his statement as said that the Hamptons had tried to keep the matter a secret for quite some time, but the one thoughtless act of the Senator has shattered all the peace. He further said that when they were ready, the Hampton family would be going public to tell their version of the story.

The Senator’s office said that the ‘affair’ had lasted from December 2007 to August 2008. 46-year-old Cindy Hampton is married to the Senator’s former official staff. Cindy Hampton worked as a campaign staff for Senator Ensign at the Senate and the Battle Born PAC from December 2006 to May 2008.

During the time of the affair, she had received a promotion and a pay hike at one political entity under Ensign. All the details have been revealed by the entries in the federal records. Cindy Hampton’s husband Doug, was also a buddy golfer to the Senator which is the reason why the two families were closely related. The former campaign staffer’s photographs are wildly making the rounds of the internet since the affair became public.
