peterJune 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Peter Orszag, the White House budget director who had played a pivotal role in the President’s budget planning and expenditures is reportedly planning to leave the administration soon.

Although neither Peter Orszag nor any of the officials contacted by the media sources confirmed the news, a media source has revealed that the news was leaked by a senior U.S. Official who spoke to them on conditions of anonymity. The official has also added that Peter Orszag will be stepping down from his position in this July after serving the White House Cabinet for 18 months.

Peter Orszag has not only played a critical role in the President of United States Barack Obama’s legislative initiative of the economic stimulus bill but also the heath care bill that had created much overhaul. He had led the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) since January 2009.

He belonged to the inner circle of the economic advisers on whom the President depended. During the economic meltdown that had hit United States when the then new President Barack Obama had taken to Office, Peter Orszag remained a part of the inner circle of economic advisers.

Although Peter Orszag will become the first official to step down from the inner circle of the President, many have voiced that they are not surprised to know about the decision and that they have speculated it long.

However, as of yet there is no confirmation of the news and on Monday, OMB communications director Kenneth Baer has declined to confirm the news saying that he is not authorized to comment on the matter, adding that “Peter is focused on his work, not on Washington speculations”.
