New Delhi, Nov 3 (IANS) Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief and union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar Thursday met Congress president Sonia Gandhi at her 10 Janpath residence here. He was accompanied by NCP leader and Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Praful Patel.
Congress sources described the meeting as “a courtesy call” as the two leaders had not met Gandhi since she returned from the US following her surgery.
Gandhi underwent a surgery in the US in early August and returned to the country after about a month.
Pawar’s meeting with Gandhi has come ahead of local body elections in Maharashtra. The Congress and the NCP are partners in the ruling alliance in the state and are part of the United Progressive Alliance central government.
