Pawar, Deshmukh tacit supporters of MNS: Amar SinghMarch 11th, 2008 - 12:27 am ICT by admin
Niphad (Maharashtra), March 10 (IANS) Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh Monday accused Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar of extending tacit support to Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in its campaign against north Indians. “The two leaders and Shiv Sena defectors to the Congress and the NCP like Narayan Rane and Chhagan Bhujbal are tacit supporters of Raj. In fact, he is their creation - like Bhindranwale in Punjab (in the 1980s) and United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) were the creations of the Congress,” Amar Singh told reporters here.
He earlier called on the bereaved family of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) engineer Ambadas Dharrao who was fatally hit by a stone during MNS agitation in Nashik following Thackeray’s arrest in Mumbai Feb 13. Amar Singh offered his widow a cheque of Rs.500,000.
Referring to the MNS “witch-hunt campaign and bullying” directed against north Indian workers in Mumbai and western Maharashtra, Amar Singh said: “While they have devastated many families, we have come here to provide a healing touch.”
