Kathmandu, Jan 4 (IANS) At least 10 people were injured as a scuffle erupted on the premises of Nepal’s hallowed Pashupatinath temple Sunday even as condemnation mounted at home and abroad over the Maoist government’s interference in religious matters in violation of the constitution. Some Rajbhandaris - Nepalis who have traditionally been assisting priests during worship at the 17th century temple - as well as a cameraman of the state-run Nepal Television station were injured as a group of people, alleged to be Maoists, attacked the helpers who were staging a protest.

The attackers reportedly accused the helpers of trying to reinstate deposed King Gyanendra, who on Saturday expressed his concern at the way the revered temple had been dragged into a dispute.
