New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) The Congress leadership has given the “go ahead” to his controversial rally in Andhra Pradesh in memory of his father, the late Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, party MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy said Tuesday after a meeting with Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily.
The Kadapa MP, known as Jagan, had defied the party diktat and gone ahead with the rally in the volatile Telangana region last week, triggering violence that necessitated his being taken into protective custody on May 28.

In New Delhi, however, the MP struck an upbeat note.

He said after his meeting with Moily, the Congress leader in-charge of Andhra Pradesh: “He (Moily) has given the go ahead to go and continue what I am doing.

“There is no problem whatsoever. All misunderstandings have been cleared,” the 37-year-old, who enjoys the support of a vast section of Congress workers and leaders in the state, told reporters after meeting Moily.

Moily, he added, expressed his appreciation of the tour.

Party sources added that Moily asked Jagan to continue his rally in the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions of the state but not in Telangana.

He was asked to stay away from Telangana until bypolls in the 12 assembly seats, vacated by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) legislators, were over.

The party also asked him to ensure that law and order in the state was maintained during the rally, sources said.

Jagan said he now plans to finish his rally in August.

He flew to the capital to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi to explain his position but only managed an appointment with her political secretary and senior party leader Ahmed Patel.
