Lucknow, Oct 12 (IANS) Taking a cue from Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav Monday urged his party leaders and workers to camp in villages for serving the Dalits and poor.
“I am visiting the houses of the poor and Dalits and also attending marriages in their families since 1957. However, it is now noticed that party workers and leaders are used to urban comforts rather than visiting villages. It is high time that they should start visiting and camping in rural areas to strengthen the party from grassroots level,” he said.
Without naming Gandhi, Mulayam Singh Yadav praised him. “Our youth should take a lesson from a Congress MP as to how he is working for the Dalits,” he said.
Mulayam Singh was addressing the party workers at the culmination of a four-day function on the occasion of the 43rd death anniversary of socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia.
