Islamabad, March 19 (Xinhua) Pakistan’s National Assembly, the lower house of parliament, Wednesday elected Fahmida Mirza as the speaker, the first woman in the country to hold the office. Mirza is a nominee of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) of the assassinated former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. The party won the most seats in the Feb 18 parliamentary election.
