Pakistan able to defend if attacked: foreign ministerDecember 22nd, 2008 - 12:15 am ICT by IANS
Islamabad, Dec 21 (Xinhua) Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi Sunday said his country had the right to defend itself if driven to war.”Pakistan doesn’t want war and we are desirous of peace, but if war is thrust on us, then we have all the rights to defend,” Qureshi said. “We are prepared to fully cooperate with India, but India should provide concrete evidences.”
The private Geo TV quoted Qureshi as saying that Pakistan possessed all the potentiality for defense and the Pakistan armed forces were absolutely prepared for it.
Qureshi’s remarks came after Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee said India had provided Pakistan several proofs relating to the Nov 26 Mumbai attacks and urged Pakistan to cooperate with India.
Bitterly criticising Pakistan, Mukherjee asked Islamabad to give up the policy of denial, take tangible actions and hand over all those responsible for the Mumbai attacks.
