Owning resorts to companies, Kamal Nath richest minister

New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) With business interests spanning resorts to immovable property, Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath figures among the richest members of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s council of ministers as per their assets declared and posted on official website Saturday.
Running into 35 pages, which is also among the lengthiest, Kamal Nath’s declaration says he and his immediate family could well be worth over Rs.250 crore ($55 million). Defence Minister’s A.K. Antony, on the other hand, has assets worth some Rs.50 lakh ($111,000).
The assets have been declared under Kamal Nath’s own name, besides those of his wife Alka, sons Bakul and Nakul and daughter-in-law Simran, as also under various trusts, Hindu undivided family (HUF) holdings and companies in which they have interests.
The prime minister’s team had been asked to furnish the details in accordance with the code of conduct for ministers. The declarations have been posted under the head “Right to Information” on the website of Prime Minister’s Office: www.pmindia.nic.in.
