Over 54 percent polling in Jharkhand
December 2nd, 2009 - 7:33 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Dec 2 (IANS) Jharkhand Wednesday recorded 54.3 percent voting in the second phase of assembly elections, Deputy Election Commissioner Alok Shukla said here.
Balloting took place in 14 of the state’s 81 constituencies. A total of 259 candidates were in the fray.
“Overall the poll has been very satisfactory barring one incident of violence in which one policeman was killed,” Shukla said. The five-phase elections end Dec 18 and votes will be counted Dec 23.
