Orissa legislator faces rape chargeMay 26th, 2008 - 12:35 pm ICT by admin
Bhubaneswar, May 26 (IANS) Congress legislator in the Orissa assembly Subal Sahu is facing charges of raping a woman repeatedly in 2006. The woman from Barpali town in Bargarh district, about 340 km from here, has complained to the police that Sahu had repeatedly raped her when she visited him at Bhubaneswar’s MLA hostel in December 2006.
The woman said he had promised her a government job, according to police officials, who said they had registered a case and had started investigations.
Sahu has denied the allegation and said he was ready for any probe. “It is the handiwork of some of my political opponents. The truth will come out,” the legislator told IANS.
