Opposition unleashing violence: Achuthanandan
February 27th, 2011 - 5:57 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Feb 27 (IANS) Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan Sunday accused the Congress-led combine of planning to unleash violence ahead of elections after five opposition activists died in an accidental bomb blast.According to official reports, five United Democratic Front (UDF) workers were killed while they were making bombs Saturday night in Nadapuram in Kozhikode district.
Three of them were killed instantly while two died in a hospital Sunday. The condition of three of those injured is reportedly serious.
“This shows that the UDF is gearing up to unleash violence,” Achuthanandan told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has alleged that the dead belong to the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the second biggest ally of the UDF.
For years, Nadapuram has seen intense rivalry between IUML and CPI-M cadres.
