Washington DC, Apr 16 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Obama’s earned $5.5 million in 2009, and they also paid almost one-third of it, as federal income taxes. So almost $1.8 million went as taxes, and $329,100 were also contributed to charities in 2009. The US President Barack Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, and he donated his prize money to 10 different charities. His Nobel Peace Prize money was to the tune of $1.4 million, and it was directly donated to the charities. Since President Obama didn’t receive any part of it, so it wasn’t included in his 2009 income.

In 1995, Barack Obama had released his book ‘Dreams From My Father’ and in 2006 he released his second book, which was titled ‘The Audacity of Hope’. In 2007, he became a millionaire when he earned $4 million in royalties from the sales of his books. After he became the US President, the sales of his books have soared, and they have in turn contributed to his income of $5.5 million in 2009. The audio-versions of his books have also been released and they are also doing well in the market. Obama has also managed to win two Grammy awards in the ‘spoken-word’ category.
