Obama’s approval rating is at an all time new low
August 15th, 2011 - 7:11 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington, 15 Aug (THAINDIAN NEWS) US President Barack Obama’s approval rating is at all-time low, a new Gallup poll has revealed. The new poll which was released on Sunday revealed that the President has an approval rate of 39 percent which represents the lowest Obama has had since he got to the White House.
On the flip side, a record 54 percent of the respondents indicated their disapproval of the performance of Obama. This is the worse disapproval rate for the US president whose approval rate has mostly stayed above the 40 percent mark. His popularity however soared shortly after the killing of Osama bin Laden when 53 percent of Americans gave their approval for the performance of the President.
Analysts say the plummeting of Obama’s approval rating has to do with the situation that the US economy finds itself. US lawmakers made a last-minute intervention to prevent the US from defaulting on its debt repayment earlier this month. That incident, according to analysts, has got some Americans to question the competence of Obama to handle the US economy properly.
During the launch of his Presidential bid last weekend, Texas Governor Rick Perry told a press conference that, “We cannot afford four more years of this rudderless leadership. I full well believe I’m going to win. It’s time to get America working again. America is not broken. Washington, D.C. is broken.”
