A lot of key components of Obama’s new health care reform are going to become effective throughout the country. Medical insurance companies have long evaded their liabilities with the help of the pre-existing conditions. It has been a source of major debate in the past few years.

According to the new reforms, children with pre-existing medical conditions below the age of nineteen will no longer be denied treatment by the insurance companies as they will not be able to deny coverage to them. This new change in healthcare is a step in the right direction. A move has been made to allow coverage for adults with pre-existing condition as well. But it will not be effective until 2014.

Another new rule has made it illegal for insurance companies to deny coverage to individuals when they need it the most. A simple elucidation will make it clear, suppose someone is sick and needs medical coverage then the medical insurance provider cannot drop the individual on account of technicalities.

The insurance provider can no longer set a cut-off limit on the amount of to be paid for essential benefits. The health reforms implemented by the Obama Government will surely help individuals get the insurance coverage they signed up for. People who are receiving Medicare Part B will not be able to take advantage of the prescription drug coverage until 2011.
