Obama announces nominees for Navy Secretary and FAA Administrator

Washington, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — President Obama has announced more key positions for his administration today, including the Administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Secretary of the Navy. President Obama was quoted saying “At this critical moment in our nation’s history, I am grateful that these exceptional public servants have chosen to help my administration bring the change our country needs today.”

For the FAA Administrator, President Obama nominated J. Randolph Babbit. He is a partner in the worldwide aviation consultancy of Oliver Wyman and served as a former chairman and CEO of Eclat Consulting.

For Secretary of the Navy, President Obama chose Ray Mabus who served as the governor of Mississippi, Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and chairman and CEO of Foamex, a large manufacturing company. He was named one of Fortune Magazine’s top ten education governors.

Among the other nominees were Donald Remy for General Counsel of the Army, Jose D. Riojas for Assistant Secretary for Operations, Security and Preparedness at the Department of Veterans Affairs, John Travina for Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Aqual Opportunity at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and Lawrence E. Strickling for Assistant Secretary for Communications and Information at the Department of Commerce.

President Obama also nominated Cathy Zoi for Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the Department of Energy. The nominees now await approval by the Senate.
