Governor Paterson ALBANY (BNO NEWS) — The New York State Commission on Public Integrity on Wednesday charged New York Governor David Paterson with violating a gift ban of the State’s ethics laws, the commission said.

The Commission accuses Paterson of securing free tickets to the first game of the 2009 World Series from the New York Yankees. In addition to the charges, the Commission has also asked New York State Attorney General Cuomo and the Albany County District Attorney to investigate whether Paterson or anyone else may have committed a crime by swearing falsely during the Commission’s interview of him and by causing a check to be back-dated.

Paterson last week announced he would not seek re-election.
