Nothing to do with Gujarat civic polls EVMs, says EC
October 24th, 2010 - 11:01 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 23 (IANS) The Election Commission was not associated with the use of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the just-concluded Gujarat civic bodies elections, a senior official said here Sunday.
Answering a question about the manipulation of the EVMs in the polls, Deputy Election Commissioner Alok Shukla said the EVMs used in the local civic bodies elections belonged the State Election Commission.
Led by the Congress, the opposition parties in Gujarat are raising hue and cry after their total rout in the municipal elections. The BJP registered a sweeping victory in these elections.
The Congress and other political parties have alleged that the EVMs were rigged to score victory for the BJP.
