Manmohan Singh Lucknow, March 6 (IANS) Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav Sunday said “as of now” there was no threat to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government after the DMK announced withdrawal of support.

However, Yadav declined to say whether his party has been invited by the Congress to join the central government.

Speaking at a press conference at the party office here, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said: “The matter (with the DMK deciding to pull out its ministers from the UPA cabinet) is their (Congress and DMK) personal one… There’s nothing special about it. The two parties are trying to sort it out…It would be resolved. Efforts are being made in this regard.”

“As of now, there is no threat to the central government. Why are you all taking the issue so seriously? Such a thing continues to happen in politics…This fight has nothing special about it,” Yadav said at the press conference.

Asked whether the Congress has invited the Samajwadi Party to join the UPA government, he said: “Such a question is imaginary. Imaginary questions have no answer.”

However, he said that his party is to discuss about others issues with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

“Three days back I was to discuss other issues with the prime minister. But due to my engagements, the discussion could not take place…They (discussions) will take place once I visit Delhi after finishing some of my work,” said Yadav. I

The DMK, which has 18 MPs in the Lok Sabha, Saturday evening, withdrew support to the UPA government, reducing it to 256 in a house of 543. The majority mark is 272. The government has the outside support of the Samajwadi Party, 22 MPs, Bahujan Samaj Party, 21, and Rashtriya Janata Dal, 4.
