No guest teachers to be removed: Hooda
November 7th, 2010 - 8:26 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Nov 7 (IANS) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Sunday said none of the over 16,000 guest teachers would be removed in the wake of alleged lapses in their selection.
Hooda gave the assurance to a delegation of guest teachers who had called on him at his residence here Sunday under the banner of Haryana Atithi Adhyapak Sangh.
Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal Sunday urged those guest teachers, who were agitating, to shun the agitational approach.
Currently, 16,047 guest teachers are working in government schools in the state.
The school education department in Haryana last month started scrutinizing irregularities in selection of guest teachers.
An education department spokesman earlier said that lapses came to light in Faridabad district where selections were made without following due procedures and some appointments were made in 2008 despite a ban on appointments.
In 2006, with a view to ensure that studies of the students did not suffer due to shortage of teachers, the department authorized heads of institution and department officials to engage teachers as guest faculty.
