Nigerian President Yar’Adua dead
May 6th, 2010 - 6:56 am ICT by IANSAbuja, May 6 (IANS) Nigerian President Umaru Yar’Adua, who was undergoing treatment for a heart ailment, is dead, media reports have said.
A senior government official confirmed the report Wednesday.
“He passed on earlier this night between 9.30 and 10.00 p.m. (local time),” Xinhua quoted the source as saying. “He will be buried tomorrow,” the source added.
Yar’Adua had been battling acute pericaditis, an inflammation of the membrane around the heart, since November 2009 and was receiving treatment at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
