New survey for BPL list to be over by January
November 24th, 2011 - 8:33 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 24 (IANS) A new socio-economic survey to prepare the below poverty line (BPL) list of families will be completed by January 2012, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) told parliament Thursday.
In a written reply to Mysura Reddy (of the Telugu Desam Party), Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Ashwani Kumar said that a “detailed Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC), 2011, is under way to capture information on various deprivations faced by the people.”
He said the SECC, 2011, is expected to be completed by January 2012.
The data collected through this exercise is to be used to identify the prospective beneficiaries of the various schemes and those eligible for the BPL list, he said.
