New Delhi, May 16 (IANS) A delegation of NDA leaders met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to demand rejection of the report of Karnataka Governor H.R. Bhardwaj if he had recommended presdent’s rule in the BJP-ruled state and his dismissal for being partisan.
The prime minister assured the delegation that the central government would not take any unconstitutional action over the governor’s report.
“Prime minister assured us that no unconstitutional move will be made,” senior BJP leader L.K. Advani told reporters here after the meeting.
Advani said they had demanded that the central government reject the report by the state governor if it had recommended imposition of president’s rule in the state.
He said the B.S. Yeddyurappa government enjoyed support of 121 MLAs in the 225-member assembly.
Advani also demanded the recall of Bhardwaj, saying that the governor had not been impartial and non-partisan in his actions.
“He (Bhardwaj) just cannot do it. (It is) not his capacity to be detached. Partisanship comes out in every single action or utterance,” Advani said.
He said that the Supreme Court judgement reversing the Karnataka High Court decision of disqualifying 11 BJP rebel MLAs and five independents ahead of the Oct 10, 2010 floor test in the assembly had come as a “blessing in disguise” for the party and its numbers in the assembly had gone up.
Advani said MLAs of the party in Karnataka will meet President Pratibha Patil here Tuesday.
