New Delhi, March 28 (IANS) The chief ministers of nine National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-ruled states meet here Saturday to present a report card on their states’ performance as well as to formulate an electoral strategy for the upcoming general elections. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani has called the nine chief ministers for the meting, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said.

“Apart from the six chief ministers of the BJP ruled states, the three non-BJP chief ministers of NDA states will be present at 11 a.m. at Advani’s residence,” Javadekar told IANS.

“We are also ruling Nagaland and Meghalaya now, but the chief ministers have not yet become part of this.”

Javadekar said: “The meeting will review governance in each state, within the parameters of ‘good governance’ earmarked by Advani repeatedly in his public statements.”

Congress president Sonia Gandhi while in opposition had first set the precedent of summoning Congress chief ministers and seeking a report card from them every six months.

“The main focus of the NDA leaders will, however, be on fine tuning our electoral strategy for the coming general elections,” Javadekar said.

The BJP has authorized senior leader Sushma Swaraj to coordinate with the NDA leaders at the meeting. Also present will be NDA convenor George Fernandes and BJP president Rajnath Singh.

“Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Shivraj Singh Chauhan of Madhya Pradesh, Raman Singh from Chhattisgarh, Vasundhra Raje of Rajsthan, B.C. Khanduri of Uttarakhand, and Prem Kumar Dhumal from Himachal Pradesh have confirmed their arrival,” said party functionaries at the BJP headquarters on 11, Ashoka Road.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Nitish Kumar from Bihar and Naveen Patnaik of Orissa will also attend, the BJP functionary said.
