New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS) The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has favoured setting up of a states reorganisation commission (SRC) to examine the growing demand for smaller states.
In the political resolution passed at the party convention here Sunday, the NCP said the the central government’s announcement on Telangana has led to more and more people demanding creation of new states.
The resolution said the NCP does not agree to the approach of deciding things in a “haphazard manner.”
In his concluding remarks at the convention, party president and union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar said that while the party favoured creation of small states, these should not be formed in an irrational manner. Pawar said that the SRC should be formed to deal with demands for new states.
