Chandigarh, July 26 (IANS) Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu Thursday complained to the police that the Facebook page in his name is fake and he had nothing to do with it.
“Taking advantage of the popularity of the Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar Navjot Singh Sidhu, some miscreants have opened a fake account on social networking site Facebook in his name,” Sidhu’s spokesman said.
In a complaint forwarded to the Amritsar Commissioner of Police, it has been pointed out that the Facebook account was regularly updated with press conferences, quotes, photos and other activities related to Sidhu.
Sidhu, a BJP leader, said a case should be registered against the offender.
“The offender acts like Navjot Singh Sidhu and has been interacting with people about the problems they face. Many people on his friends list have raised issues of powercuts and withdrawal of international flights,” the spokesman said.
While Sidhu is a member of parliament, his wife, Navjot Kaur, is a BJP legislator from the Amritsar-east assembly seat and is now a chief parliamentary secretary in the Punjab government.
