Nathan Deal Resigns

123Washington, Mar 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After voting a “no” against the health reform bill that was passed by the Democrats, Republican Rep. Nathan Deal resigned from his position in the Congressional seat. The decision to resign however, was expected as it has been witnessed how the party leaders at the state level has been on long conversations with Nathan Deal, thus focusing on his decision to resign from his seat. It’s known to all how Nathan Deal had previously declared to run for the gubernatorial election that is to be held on November 2 this year. It is being said that in spite of Nathan Deal’s decision to resign, the Senate House GOP folks wanted him to fall back for some time before he could actually resign.

The Georgian Gubernatorial Elections are to be held on November 2, 2010. In accordance to the rules, the incumbent Sony Perdue can’t serve more than once for the very same position. So as it stands now, all primary elections are to be held in July. There shall also be a ballot access for the Libertarian party.

Nathan Deal was elected for the United States House of Representatives as a Democratic candidate, following which he had jumped to the Republican Party. Earlier this month, Nathan Deal had declared his decision to resign from his current position so that he can shift his focus to the Gubernatorial elections, where he will be running for Governor. Nathan Deal had been representing the 9th congressional district, Georgia. Soon after he gave out his “no” vote for health legislation bill, he resigned. Nathan Deal’s resignation officially went effective from 11:45pm March 21, 2010.
