NAACP Gets A New Leader

New York, Feb 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has Roslyn M. Brock as its new Chairwoman. Being one of the oldest civil rights organizations, NAACP has chosen the 44 year old health administrator as its new face on Saturday. She is the youngest person holding the chair till now. The chair was previously held by Julian Bond, the civil rights leader from 1998. The new leader will head the NAACP with the 37 year old president of the organization, Benjamin Jealous.
According to reports, the new Chairman aims to bring the new generation into the organization. She also wants to increase the member of the organization which has been lying stagnant for years. Roslyn M. Brock has also reportedly said that she will try to address present issues and problems which have changed from the previous selected few issues. For years NAACP Organization has been fighting for the civil rights regarding education, economic empowerment, health care and other sectors. Roslyn M. Brock along with Benjamin Jealous wants the organization to come forward and take to front line activism. They want NAACP to embrace the new technological developments and implement them, like they are thinking of online activism.
Roslyn M. Brock has been in the field of civil rights activism for more than 25 years now. She, along with the president of the organization wants to take NAACP to the helm where it was before. The new faces have been supported by many who are in the organization, as they feel that the organization should work for tomorrow and include fresh blood who will become leaders.
