Kochi, March 31 (IANS) A day after the Congress indicated it is not averse to aligning with his party in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav Monday ruled out any truck with the Congress. “The Congress party is not our enemy and right now we have no plans for any sort of alliance with the Congress. Our main concern is to strengthen the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA),” Yadav told reporters here.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister was speaking during the inauguration of a ‘Social Justice Meet’ organized by Peoples Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasir Maudany.

Yadav also said that the Left parties are welcome to join the UNPA and the decision has to be made by them.

“We are organising a seminar in Delhi on April 19 and have invited the Left leaders to it,” said Yadav.

Congress leader Digvijay Singh Sunday said in Kanpur that the Congress party gave credit to the Samajwadi Party for containing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh and tthat the Congress was open to alliance with parties that were against communal forces.
