Boston, Jan 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The younger son of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (Shah of Iran), Ali-Reza Pahlavi was found dead at his home in Boston, Massachusetts. Reza Pahlavi, the oldest son of Shah of Iran, announced the news to the media. Ali-Reza Pahlavi’s family members said that he committed suicide as he could not cope up with his prolonged depression. He was 44 years old.
Reza Pahlavi issued a statement in his website, where he mentioned that his brother was disturbed with the political turmoil in his native land Iran. He stated that like millions of other Iranians he was greatly disturbed by the wars and riots in his homeland. Reza Pahlavi also stated that his brother was carrying the burden of his father and sister’s loss at such an early age of his life. The oldest brother said that Ali-Reza Pahlavi struggled with himself for years to get over his sorrow but he “succumbed” to his depression and took his own life at his home.
The law enforcement officials did not confirm the death of Ali-Reza Pahlavi. However, a police officer, reportedly, said that an adult man who was in his mid 40s was found dead at his home in West Newton Street in Boston. The law enforcement officials said that it is not a case of homicide though the man died from a gun shot wound. However, they told that they have opened an investigation and are interrogating his relatives about his death. The media outlets reported that Ali-Reza Pahlavi lived a reclusive life, away from everyone after his father was overthrown from his crown. If reports are to be believed, then he is the second child of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to commit suicide. The youngest daughter of the former Shah of Iran was found dead in a hotel room in 2001 due to sleep medication overdose.
