Bharatiya Janata Party Ludhiana, May 10 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Sunday mocked at the ‘fast-unto-death’ undertaken by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in support of Tamil civilians in Sri Lanka, saying the four-hour-long fast was perhaps the “only one of its kind in the world”.
“This fast-unto-death must be the only one of its kind in the world. It lasted for just four hours. It started after he (Karunanidhi) had his breakfast and ended before lunch,” Modi told an election rally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies in this industrial city of Punjab Sunday.

“I cannot understand what kind of a fast was this,” Modi wondered.

He said the Manmohan Singh government was more concerned in letting Bofors accused, Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi, off the hook than doing anything to help the Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Modi lavished special praise on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in his speech.

“Nitish Kumar has done a lot for the development of agriculture in Bihar,” Modi said.

He also said that agriculture had done a successful turnaround only in NDA-ruled states.
