Gandhinagar, Aug 25 (IANS) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday said the state wants to promote sports in a big way.
Addressing a training camp of 5,000 physical instructors at the Tridev Mandir complex at Adalaj near here, he said that youth’s participation in sports was important to inculcate the spirit of sportsmanship and leadership.
The camp has been organised as a preparatory exercise to a four-tier mega sports event in Gujarat to be held from Nov 20 to Dec 20 as part of the state’s golden jubilee celebrations.
Nearly 18,000 athletes are expected to participate in the competition.
