Gandhinagar, Sep 25 (IANS) The Gujarat government headed by Chief Minister Narendra Modi had sufficient intelligence inputs to prevent the July 26 serial bombings in Ahmedabad, the main opposition Congress said Thursday.During question hour on the first day of the three-day monsoon session of the assembly which began Thursday, Congress legislator and former leader of opposition Arjun Modhvadia said the statements given by two Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists Safdar Nagori and Ameel Pervez to the Madhya Pradesh police revealed that they were planning to target Ahmedabad.
Refuting the charge, Minister of State for Home Amit Shah said that no central government intelligence inputs of such serious nature were provided to the state government, the Gujarat Intelligence Bureau or the director general of state police.
The assembly witnessed scenes of furore with allegations and counter-allegations from the two sides.
As many as 57 people were killed as 22 bombs went off in a span of less than two hours on the evening of July 26.
