Mizoram chief minister rejects minister’s resignation
May 15th, 2010 - 11:25 pm ICT by IANSAizawl, May 15 (IANS) Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla Saturday rejected the resignation of Education Minister Lalsawta and asked him to resume work from Monday.
Lalsawta quit May 11 owning moral responsibility for mistakes in the technical entrance tests for filling the state’s quota in technical institutions across the country.
“I have not accepted the resignation letter of education minister and asked him to resume office from Monday,” the chief minister told reporters.
“Officials of state higher and technical education department were responsible for the declaration of incorrect results and mistakes in marks evaluation and tabulation. We are now inquiring the matter before taking any action against the flawed officials,” he said.
The chief minister blamed the officials of “deliberately committing the mistakes to malign the government’s reputation as they were seemed to be loyal to the previous Mizo National Front (MNF) ministers”.
